Jon Gruden thought he could get away with trading Khalil Mack and still have a good enough defense with a stash of picks in his pocket. Time has shown he was very wrong in that regard. He basically rendered it almost useless instead. That’s why the Oakland Raiders jump up the board to grab Clelin Ferrell. He’s one of the best pass-rushing defensive ends in college football. A big, long player who can get up the field quickly and has a bevy of moves that allows him to shed blocks with regularity and get heat on the quarterback. That’s what the Raiders desperately need. Can he replace what Mack was? Only time will tell.
