The latest 2019 NFL mock draft isn’t kind to the upcoming quarterback class, but it does set the stage for big changes in the Big Apple.

It’s clearer than ever that much of the old guard at quarterback are winding down their careers and it’s only a matter of time before they’re replaced. The big question is when. Some teams are willing to ride it out for as long as they can. Others are already actively seeking that bridge to the next generation. Some, like the Giants, are proving fortunate enough to land in a top draft position at exactly the right time to solve their overarching problem.

1. New York Giants

31. . QB. Oregon. Justin Herbert . 1. player

Eli Manning has remained inconsistent for the New York Giants though their problems can’t be attributed to just him. They still have glaring defensive issues and their offensive line, while somewhat improved still isn’t getting the job done. However, with the #1 pick in hand, they have to get serious thinking about life after Manning who continues to inch closer towards age 40.

Even if they want to ride it out one or two more years after this, this is their best opportunity to find his eventual successor. Of the somewhat unpredictable 2019 class, the best prospect by a considerable margin is Justin Herbert. He has all the tools a team looks for: size, poise, a strong arm, accuracy at all levels and an ability to execute under pressure.
