The Philadelphia Eagles look nothing like the team that finished with such a flourish last season, and it starts on the offensive side of the ball.

Carson Wentz hasn’t found his groove since returning from a knee injury. The Eagles haven’t scored 30 points yet this season. They did it 11 times last season. In fact they haven’t scored more than 23 in any of their five games. It’s little wonder they’re 2-3. A big part of the problem is they can’t run the football. Philadelphia was 3rd in rushing last season.

Now they’re 16th and even that ranking is in serious danger after the news dropped that top back Jay Ajayi was going on IR with a torn ACL. Without him the burden falls to Corey Clement and Wendell Smallwood to pick up the slack. Not exactly the ideal scenario for a team desperately trying to stay afloat in what is a stacked NFC.

This is why speculation has run rampant that the team my be poised for a move at the trade deadline to find help. While a blockbuster deal for Le’Veon Bell is certainly the biggest topic, odds are Howie Roseman may seek a cheaper alternative. If so, here are some possibilities.

C.J. Prosise (Seattle Seahawks)

More from NFL Mocks

The writing was on the wall for Prosise the moment Seattle drafted Rashaad Penny in the 1st round back in April. Together with Chris Carson, this has pushed the former 3rd round pick to the bottom of the depth chart. A shame given he still has so much talent worth exploring. Seattle doesn’t seem to have the patience for it. So the Eagles could probably take a chance on a cheap trade to see what they might have. He’s still just 24-years old.

Devontae Booker (Denver Broncos)

The Broncos finally found their 1-2 punch in the backfield with Phillip Lindsay and rookie Royce Freeman. This has put former draft choice Devontae Booker in an awkward spot. He just hasn’t found any sort of groove in Denver and the time may be right for him to seek a fresh start elsewhere. The Eagles offense would present a new opportunity with a system that might actually be a better fit for his talent and college experience.

Carlos Hyde (Cleveland Browns)

The Browns have tried to make things work with Hyde but it’s clear he just can’t get going in their offense. Meanwhile, Duke Johnson and rookie Nick Chubb have played much better when getting their opportunities. Considering he was signed as a free agent, it might still be considered a win if Cleveland were able to squeeze a draft pick out of him. For Philadelphia, he’d be a far better fit for their system as he ran tons of run-pass option in college for Ohio State.

Tevin Coleman (Atlanta Falcons)

There are a few things in play here. Devonta Freeman just returned from injury. Also the Falcons have spent multiple draft picks at running back the past two years. They seem like a team that expects Coleman to be gone in 2019 when his contract expires. Considering they’re also 1-4 and fading fast, being able to get any sort of draft pick for him would be a bonus. Though he’s struggled a bit this year, Coleman has shown promise whenever he’s been given a featured role. He had over 900 yards from scrimmage each of the past two years.
