College Football week six takeaways: Longhorns hook the Sooners
Utes get the upset win over Stanford
With the absence of running back Bryce Love, the rest of the Stanford offense had to pick up the slack against the gritty Utah Utes.
Instead, what occurred in Palo Alto was a Stanford offense that lacked rhythm and their primary playmaker and the Utes turned a well-played game on both sides of the ball into an upset.
A 100-yard interception by defensive back Jaylon Johnson gave Utah a 14-0 lead in the second quarter and a 35-yard touchdown run by running back Zack Moss put Utah up 21-0 late in the second. From that point on, it was too much of an uphill battle for the Stanford bunch.
Two losses in a row for Stanford hurt and now they have a short week in front of them with a Thursday night road game against Arizona State along with Washington State and Washington to follow. A healthy Bryce Love makes a tremendous difference not only on the offense but for the team as well.
