#5:  Browns fire Paul Brown and then win NFL title

Paul Brown was the Cleveland Browns during their earliest years. He turned them from expansion franchise to pro football juggernaut that won seven championships in 10 years. However, the shine on the apple was starting to wear off by the 1960s. Though the Browns were still a good team, they couldn’t get over the hump to win a championship.

Some started to look towards Brown and his increasingly archaic ways as a reason for it. Couple that with an icy relationship with owner Art Model, and a breaking point was inevitable. It finally came in 1964 when Brown was dismissed. Not only did the coach lose control the team he’d built, he then had to watch it go on to win the NFL championship that year without him.
