The Greatest Insult to Injury NFL Moments in History

#7: Drew Brees wins his Super Bowl in Miami
It wasn’t fun being Drew Brees in the offseason of 2006. He’d just been cast aside by his former team the San Diego Chargers for Philip Rivers. Not only that but he’d suffered a torn rotator cuff in the last game of the season. In previous years that sort of injury had sunk good quarterbacks. Many weren’t convinced Brees would ever be the same.
Two teams were at least willing to find out, the New Orleans Saints and Miami Dolphins. Initially, it looked like the Dolphins were favorites to get him, but their team doctors warned the risk was too great. Daunte Culpepper was signed instead. Brees went to New Orleans. Just four seasons later the quarterback stunned the Indianapolis Colts in the Super Bowl. On Miami’s own home field. Als, their defense? It gave up a combined 68 points in those games.
