#9: Chad Pennington knocks Jets from the playoff race

Nobody ever accused Chad Pennington of being the most talented quarterback in history, but there’s no denying the guy was a winner. He took the New York Jets to the playoffs a lot in the 2000s. So how did they repay him? They kicked him to the curb in 2008 in order to trade for an aging Brett Favre following his public divorce with the Packers.

For a time it seemed to work, then Favre hurt his shoulder. The Jets began to fade down the stretch and who was there to deal the finishing blow? None other than Pennington, now quarterback of the rival Miami Dolphins, who threw for 200 yards and two touchdowns in a 24-17 win that kept the Jets out of the playoffs.
