The Chicago Bears mailbag this week is loaded with plenty of long-term questions. No surprise since the team is currently in its bye.

They’re definitely in the drivers seat at the moment, sitting at 3-1 with control of the division. Not only that but they have a chance to widen that lead without even playing depending on what happens Sunday with Green Bay in Detroit and Minnesota playing Philadelphia. That aside, what else is there to know about this team? Here are some of the latest questions fans had.

@BigRedMachine44

Do you eventually see Cohen overpassing Howard as the ‘starting’ running back?

I think Cohen will continue to have a prominent role in the offense, but will he get feature running back treatment? No. The fact is Cohen doesn’t have the body for that. While I’m not questioning his toughness, some guys just aren’t built for that sort of heavy workload. The smaller you are, the easier it is to get injured. Howard has that sort of body. Cohen got lots of action against Tampa Bay because the Bears saw on film that the Buccaneers defense struggled against speed. There’s a reason he and Taylor Gabriel went off. Other teams won’t be so generous.

With this great start, will anything less than playoffs be a disappointment?

Yes, to be honest. Starting 3-1 is just the sort of momentum builder that winning teams need. The Bears have their good start. They have the lead in the NFC North. Everything from here on out is under their own control. All they have to do is keeping winning games and there’s nobody that can stop them from making the playoffs. If they end up not doing so, it will mean they had faltered at some point along the line and coughed up an opportunity.
