Florida Defense

DE Jachai Polite

The junior defensive end could be the next pass rusher to take in the 2019 NFL Draft if he declares. Jachai Polite is leading the team in sacks with four and has three forced fumbles. He will be the key in setting the edge to pressure Burrow and force him to make mistakes. He plays at a 4-3 defensive end position but could rotate as a 3-4 outside linebacker to cause havoc as LSU’s offensive line is made for the run and could help stop LSU’s potent tandem at running back.

S Chauncey Gardner-Johnson

One would not expect a safety to lead the team in tackles but he leads Florida in total tackles with 30. The junior safety also has 4.5 tackles for loss and two sacks as a box safety leaning to stop the run. He has five interceptions, 90 total tackles, 6.5 tackles for loss, and 10 pass deflections the past two years as a starter. Gardner-Johnson will have to be the main force in stopping LSU’s run game and will be responsible for the backend in Florida’s secondary.
