A primetime matchup in Blacksburg as the Virginia Tech Hokies look to take down the Notre Dame Fighting Irish. Here is the matchup preview and prediction.

Blacksburg, Virginia. A place where “Enter Sandman” by Metallica is blasted through the speakers of Lane Stadium. As a result, the Hokies fan base goes into a frenzy and the Virginia Tech players hit the field with even more craze. One of the more raucous settings in all of college football.

That is the setting for the Saturday’s prime time showdown as the Notre Dame Fighting Irish enter Blacksburg with a 5-0 record and fresh off a 21-point win over #14 Stanford. Dating back to last season, the Irish are victorious in seven of their last eight games, three of them against ranked opponents. So yes, Notre Dame comes into this on a roll, even with a quarterback who is facing his third career start.

As for the Hokies, this game means a little more not just because of the opponent but also because the program is trying to rid of that nasty taste in their mouth after coming up short on the road two weeks ago against Old Dominion. Beating Duke on the road last week was a good start but here is a prime opportunity for the talented Hokies. Here is the preview and prediction for Saturday night’s clash.
