2019 NFL Mock Draft 1.0: Defenders dominate throughout

LSU. Greedy Williams. 8. player. 42. . CB

One of the best cornerbacks in the 2019 NFL Draft also has one of the best names. It’s hard to go wrong with an LSU defensive back after years of producing NFL talent like Patrick Peterson, Tyrann Mathieu, Tre’Davious White, Jamal Adams, and Jalen Mills.

With Jimmy Garoppolo at quarterback the 49ers looked like a sneaky playoff contender. Now with Garoppolo out for the year the 49ers are once again stuck picking near the top of the draft. After drafting Mike McGlinchey to protect Garoppolo, the 49ers need to turn their focus back to the defense.

San Francisco has invested a lot into their defensive line with DeForest Buckner and Solomon Thomas. While neither has been particularly productive when it comes to sacks, a better secondary could lead to more production up front.

Greedy Williams is on pace to match his six interceptions from last season with LSU. Richard Sherman’s future is not guaranteed beyond this year, and Williams would be a tremendous upgrade over Ahkello Witherspoon.
