49. . TE. Iowa. Noah Fant. 29. player

Green Bay received this pick from the New Orleans Saints in the draft day deal last year that landed New Orleans Marcus Davenport.

The Packers already got their replacement for Clay Matthews, and now it’s time to kick the offense up a notch with another weapon. Beyond the receivers mentioned already in this mock draft, I’m not ready to put another name in the first round conversation. That being said, Noah Fant is certainly worthy of being a first round pick.

Jimmy Graham hasn’t given the Packers offense many predicted with just 16 catches and one touchdown. The Packers receivers in general haven’t been fantastic and have suffered from the drops. Davante Adams is a free agent at the end of the season, and so are tight ends Marcedes Lewis and Lance Kendricks.

Fant is a reliable pass catcher from the tight end position who is also a willing blocker. He isn’t going to pancake opponents, but he’ll at least attempt a block, unlike some other tight ends.

At 6’5 Fant gives Rodgers another big weapon to target down the field. Green Bay could have also gone with a running back, but I’d rather want Rodgers making the plays with his arm. Bryce Love might be in the second round for the Packers if they want a pass catching back.
