DE. Florida. Jachai Polite. 22. player. 87.

Carolina comes out of their ridiculously early bye week 2-1 looking strong with an offense built around Christian McCaffrey’s ability to make plays in space. The second year running back is the team’s leader in rushing and receptions through three games. A wide receiver in this mock draft would make sense with JJ Arcega-Whiteside still available, but there should be enough receiver depth later on.

Now is the time for the Panthers to find a reliable edge rusher who can replace the ancient Julius Peppers.

Carolina has just eight sacks in their first three games after putting up 50 last year. They simply need more production up front with Kawann Short. Veteran Mario Addison is a potential cap victim this offseason with a big out in the final year of his contract.

Jachai Polite his a high motor rusher with advanced moves and a quick first step that collegiate blockers can’t hold up against. He’s already matched his career total with four sacks this year for the Gators and he’ll have some terrific tests and opportunities to flash later this year facing LSU, Georgia, and Florida State.
