2019 NFL Mock Draft 1.0: Defenders dominate throughout
Jon Gruden needs a pass rusher following the Khalil Mack trade, and he gets the best in college football.
Prior to undergoing core muscle surgery, Nick Bosa was dominating for the Ohio State Buckeyes. With four sacks in three games, Bosa was about halfway to his career-high in sacks set last year at 8.5.
The younger brother of Chargers star Joey Bosa, Nick is a mirror image of his brother on the field. He steps in immediately as a Defensive Rookie of the Year candidate for Gruden’s Raiders and replaces what Mack took to Chicago.
This will be the first of two first round picks for Gruden, who has a rough history in the NFL Draft. There’s no time to get cute with these picks, and the old-school head coach shouldn’t resist the dynamic pass rusher this early.
In such a heavy pass rusher class the Raiders could double-dip in the first round thanks to the Bears pick. Meanwhile, Mack has as many safeties and hurries as the entire Raiders defense out in the Windy City.
