Chicago Bears: Re-evaluating remaining 2018 schedule
By Erik Lambert
3rd Quarter
vs. Detroit Lions – Win
The Lions have had their fun at Soldier Field in the past but don’t expect that to continue anymore. Their team has not gotten better since last year while Chicago has by a large margin. They won’t be able to run the ball and Matthew Stafford has endured a beating so far this year. As long as Trubisky doesn’t throw the game away, this should be a win.
vs. Minnesota Vikings – Win
A month ago this was counted as a loss because it was still believed the Vikings were the powerhouse that went to the NFC championship last year. It’s clear that is no longer the case. Their defense is a shell of what it was last year, clearly missing defensive end Everson Griffen. If the Bears can keep Kirk Cousins from going off, this is their game to lose.
at Detroit Lions – Loss
It’s hard to win at Ford Field. The Bears haven’t done it in a long time. Despite their shortcomings, the Lions have continued to show they can be dangerous in their home building. They picked off Trubisky three times the last time Chicago went up there. It will be a close game but expect Matthew Stafford to engineer just enough offense to squeak by.
at New York Giants – Win
The Giants may be slightly improved from what they were last season, but it’s becoming apparent they’re still not a good football team. Their offense can’t engineer production with any sort of consistency and their defense is banged up and lacking depth. Eli Manning just can’t handle pressure like he used to. Khalil Mack should feast.
