NFL Grades: Report card for each QB after four games
By Erik Lambert
Cam Newton (Carolina Panthers): A
He hasn’t been getting the same attention as some of the other young QBs lately, and that’s a crying shame. Cam Newton has quietly been excellent to start the season. He may be off to the best start of his career, which is saying something since he’s a former MVP. While he hasn’t been chucking it up like others, his efficiency is beyond impressive.
One must remember that Newton is always the dual-threat guy. Both stats must be incorporated to understand his value. He’s thrown for 646 yards and five touchdowns with just one interception. That is the kind production a true starting quarterback should strive for. Now throw in 136 more yards rushing with three touchdowns?
The guy has reached that level so many experts have waited on for years. He’s the true type of quarterback that defenses fear the most. He can dominate you through the air or on the ground. So unless you play almost perfect, he’ll find a way to put points on the board. Oh and he might deserve a couple extra points for his outstanding fashion sense.
