NFL Grades: Report card for each QB after four games

Josh Allen (Buffalo Bills): D
There was no questioning the raw talent Josh Allen had coming out of Wyoming. His arm is in Brett Favre territory, capable of throwing the ball 80-90 yards if he really set his mind to it. The problem many had with him was he didn’t know how to read coverages all that well and his accuracy at hitting receivers was spotty at best.
Yet the Buffalo Bills took the risk. They traded up to get him, thinking his talent could be elite if cultivated properly. They tried to wait a week and see if Nathan Peterman or A.J. McCarron could buy them time. It didn’t work out, so Allen went in. It hasn’t worked out. The young quarterback has validated the exact concerns people had about him.
He’s completed less than 60% of his passes in two of his three starts with just two touchdown passes to four interceptions. He was rendered utterly hopeless by an average Green Bay Packers defense last week and his gunslinging mentality made it look even worse. The Bills better hope they can refine him sooner than later because it’s been ugly so far.
