NFL Grades: Report card for each QB after four games

Derek Carr (Oakland Raiders): C
Things haven’t been fantastic for the Raiders since Jon Gruden arrived earlier this year. After building the team with stop-gap veterans and trading one of the faces of the franchise, the Raiders sit at 1-3 with Derek Carr at the helm.
Through four games Carr has thrown six touchdowns with seven interceptions, the most in football, and the third-highest interception rate in the league behind Sam Bradford and Case Keenum.
Learning a new system is tough, and Carr is clearly going through some growing pains with Gruden’s offense. He also isn’t getting much help with the lowest time in pocket average among starters at 2.27 seconds, though he’s only been sacked eight times. Seven of his receivers have been charged with a drop this year, per PFF.
Carr did finally get Oakland over the hump with their first win of the season thanks to a four-touchdown overtime performance against Cleveland. All but one game has come within eight points for Oakland. If only they had one more disruptive, game-changing piece.
