Patrick Mahomes (Kansas City Chiefs):  A+

People expected the former 1st round pick to be good when he took over as starter for the departed Alex Smith this year. None of them expected him to be this good. The stats say it all. Through four games Patrick Mahomes has 14 touchdown passes and zero interceptions. That’s about as perfect as a young QB can hope to play in his first live action as a professional.

Admittedly he’s got the perfect situation around him. He’s only been sacked five times total this season. He has All-Pro talents like Kareem Hunt, Travis Kelce, and Tyreek Hill to make his life easy. Mahomes is taking full advantage of a great situation that the Kansas City Chiefs spent years building. This was the vision they had when they drafted him.

That said, he’s been the one making the plays. It hasn’t all been perfectly drawn up. Mahomes has created a ton of the big moments this season with his own talent. His ability to scramble, throw on the run and improvise were vital to the Chiefs’ comeback in Denver. All things he showed during his time at Texas Tech. This is a budding superstar.
