#3:  No playoffs

This is always the simplest answer to why a coach gets fired. Dick Vermeil had a great saying. If you lose your first two seasons you better win your third otherwise you won’t be there. That’s generally been true for years. Koetter has missed the playoffs twice already and is now 2-2 coming off a smackdown in Chicago. Things look bleak.

The rest of the NFC South is licking their chops against that defense. Winston has never quite been a QB who can consistently put up points in shootouts. The odds of making the playoffs given their current situation is not good. If Koetter can’t get them back on track, it’s difficult to find any reason to keep him after three failed seasons with this roster.
