College Football Week Five Takeaways: Michigan wins a grinder
Ohio State steals one over Penn State
Two Big Ten rivals faced off in Happy Valley for a not-so-happy meeting with a lot at stake. In front of a record crowd of 110,889 and millions watching, the Buckeyes overcame a 26-14 deficit late in the fourth quarter to beat #11 Penn State, 27-26.
Going back to last season, the Buckeyes also swiped away a late comeback win over Penn State. This edition ended with a controversial fourth down call with 1:16 left in the contest as the Nittany Lions went with a run for running back Miles Sanders that was stuffed by no.3 Ohio State defensive end Chase Young at the Buckeyes 43-yard line.
Now the Buckeyes have two comeback wins this season that will look pretty impressive on their resumé. Defeating a very good Penn State team now pits the Buckeyes as the clear-cut favorites in the Big Ten.
Just to think, controversy swirled the program before the season even began as their head coach was embroiled in a domestic violence allegation involving one of his former assistants.
