Stanford Players to Watch

Bryce Love – Running Back

I almost didn’t want to include Love here simply because everyone is so aware of what he brings to the table. However, how can I truly justify leaving him off? Love is the key to Stanford’s offense but so far hasn’t been able to produce the same way he did in 2017. Eclipsing 100 rushing yards just once this year, the impact that Love has brought to the field mainly lies in the way he has allowed other weapons to be utilized.

Teams will game plan for Love every single week which has created opportunities for guys like Costello, receiver JJ Arcega-Whiteside, and tight end Kaden Smith to be featured more. Love will still carry the load on the ground but I expect Notre Dame’s focus to be containing the 2017 Heisman runner-up.

JJ Arcega-Whiteside – Wide Receiver

The emergence of Arcega-Whiteside has gone a long way in getting Stanford into the spot they are now. One of the nation’s leaders in receiving yards with 408 and second in the country with seven touchdown grabs, the senior from San Mateo is creating a bit of Heisman buzz for himself.

While most of his yardage came in week one, he has scored multiple touchdowns in every single game but one. The combination of Love and Arcega-Whiteside creates a rare talent combination for the Cardinal. Not to mention he has one of the more fun names in college football.

Bobby Okereke – Linebacker

Okereke may not make your eyes pop out with his numbers but the kid is a playmaker. He always seems to be around the ball and when the Stanford defense needs a big play or a big stop, Okereke is more often than not the name associated with those plays. With Notre Dame’s rushing attach, Okereke could be a huge factor in each team’s game planning.
