6. New York Jets

30. . EDGE. Mississippi State. Montez Sweat . 6. player

The loss to the Cleveland Browns really hammered home how limited the New York Jets defense is. For all their talent in the secondary and that strong defensive line, they weren’t able to put enough pressure on Baker Mayfield. That’s because they simply don’t have an edge rusher who can do the job when needed. They haven’t for a long time. It’s why they tried to trade for Khalil Mack. It’s why they must use this #6 pick to fix it. Montez Sweat is emerging as one of the best edge rushers in college football. He’s got lots of length, good explosion, strength, and violent hands that allow him to shed blockers almost at will.
