2018 NFL Honors: Early front-runners for MVP and other awards
By Erik Lambert
Executive of the Year
- Ryan Pace (Chicago Bears)
- Chris Ballard (Indianapolis Colts)
- Mike Maccagnan (New York Jets)
This is a tight race. At the moment Bears GM Ryan Pace deserves tremendous praise for his work this past offseason. So many of his moves are already paying big dividends. Khalil Mack is a terror in that defense while Allen Robinson is already showing up as a go-to receiver. Draft picks like Roquan Smith and Anthony Miller are contributing as well. If Mitch Trubisky can take a step forward this season, that award is all but his.
Ballard is getting huge contributions from his draft class already, especially 1st round pick Quenton Nelson and 2nd round pick Leonard. If others start to emerge, he’s a threat. Mike Maccagnan was masterful with his work at the Jets QB position. Not only did he get Sam Darnold, but he also signed and then traded Teddy Bridgewater for a 3rd round pick. That defense he build is also quite impressive.
