College Football Week Three Takeaways: LSU continues to roll
Florida State looking poor against Syracuse
A new era has begun in Tallahassee at Florida State University but so far, it has been met with below average play all around and it all points to the new head coach. That head coach, Willie Taggert, had to witness his talented Seminoles team get completely outplayed from top to bottom by Syracuse, 30-7, to move to 1-2 on the season.
The Seminoles offense was held to just 240 total yards with starting quarterback Deondre Francois being sacked four times although it seemed much more than that. It also did not help matters that the team was 1-for-14 on third down and the defense allowed 222 rushing yards on the day. As if their showing against Virginia Tech and Samford was not much indication, this contest completely exposed what is a growing issue for the Seminoles program.
For some odd reason, individuals actually think that the talent cupboard is bare for Florida State. That simply can not be the case since Florida State has had a top-six recruiting class in each of the past four recruiting classes between 2014-2017. They also had the 11th ranked in this latest recruiting cycle. So talent is clearly present in Tallahassee.
A new coaching regime does call for patience to allow the strategy to get acclimated. But one thing is for sure, what has transpired for Florida State so far has been downright ugly and totally unexpected.
