LSU knocks off Auburn on a game-winning kick

Maybe, just maybe we underestimated the #6 LSU Tigers coming into this season.

As time expired, LSU kicker Cole Tracy completed a clutch 42-yard field goal to give LSU the 22-21 win over Auburn on the road. It was a close contest that watched LSU make a comeback down 21-10 about halfway through the third quarter. So far on the season, LSU has knocked off #21 Miami and now went on the road to hand #9 Auburn their first loss of the season.

A message was clearly sent by LSU that they should be taken seriously not only as SEC West contenders but as SEC title game contenders which could catapult them into the College Football Playoff picture.

The Tigers latched on to a transfer quarterback in Joe Burrow, who migrated to Baton Rogue after leaving the Ohio State program. The junior quarterback must improve his accuracy over time but his cool demeanor has placed a stable cover over the LSU offense.

LSU head coach Ed Orgeron deserves plenty of credit here also coming into season with so many questions. LSU has answered those questions fairly quickly.
