Matt Patricia still hasn’t solved the Lions defensive woes

The entire reason the Detroit Lions hired Matt Patricia as head coach was to fix the teams’ persistent issues on defense. They didn’t want to rely on winning shootouts with Matthew Stafford anymore. Thus far he hasn’t solved the puzzle. After allowing 48 points last week, admitted with no help from the offense who constantly turned it over, they gave up 30 more against San Francisco.

This time the big problem was their run defense. The 49ers got 138 yards on just 11 carries from unknown back Matt Breida and an additional 48 from Alfred Morris. That eased the pressure on Jimmy Garoppolo who had an efficient day with two touchdown passes. Patricia needs to get that thing figured out because the NFC North isn’t going to wait for him.
