The 2018 NFL week 2 slate of games was among the wackiest in recent memory. There were plenty of highlights and shockers all day long.

Most of them continue to come at the quarterback position where a host of unexpected names set the world on fire from one who barely played as a rookie to a longtime journeyman to a former top pick who’s considered the weak point of his team. All the while the picture of both the NFC and AFC have started to slowly come into view.

The question is will these paths continue as they’re going or will yet more changes still be to come. Fans can only hope for the latter because what they’ve gotten so far is all sort of fun. It must start with the sudden surge of young quarterbacks who are emerging left and right this season. None more so than a confident gunslinger down in Kansas City.

Patrick Mahomes has turned Kansas City into Texas Tech 2.0

Predictions at the start of 2018 were the Chiefs would likely win via a lot of shootouts. So far that has proven the case. Kansas City is 2-0 to start the year and their young quarterback Patrick Mahomes is the reason why. People thought he couldn’t top the four-TD performance he had against the Los Angeles Chargers in the opener.

Then he delivered the encore to end all encores, dropping six touchdowns on the Pittsburgh Steelers. Both of these games were on the road, by the way. The Chiefs clearly have adjusted their offense to play far more wide open with plenty of four and five-wide receiver sets. Similar to what made Mahomes great at Texas Tech. Hard to argue with that decision so far.
