USC Players To Watch

JT Daniels – Quarterback

The true freshman quarterback from Mater Dei is not knocking anyone’s socks off in his first year. So far in two games, Daniels has 497 yards and has only thrown one touchdown against two interceptions. He is an absolute nonfactor thus far in the run game with -21 yards, yes that is negative 21 yards rushing. No quarterback is immune to growing pains and Daniels is a prime example. The talent is there and Daniels should make big strides in game three. He is dealing with a hand injury but looks to be a full go on Saturday.

Amon-Ra St. Brown – Wide Receiver

Another true freshman who also graduated from Mater Dei with a solid connection with Daniels is Amon-Ra St. Brown. He leads SC in receiving yards and receiving touchdowns through their first two games. It is helpful for both St. Brown and his quarterback that they have a chemistry dating back to the days prior to joining the Trojans. Texas has not been awful defending against the pass but if St. Brown and Daniels can get going, it may prove to be their best chance.

Cameron Smith – Linebacker

The senior linebacker is arguably the best NFL prospect on USC’s roster. He leads the team in tackles with 16 on the year. He also has three tackles for loss, one sack, and two pass deflections. He is the undeniable leader of the defense and Smith will be tough to slow down.  Texas’ ground game is off to a good start this year but Smith and crew will be their toughest test.
