Keelan Doss (WR – Cal-Davis) vs. Stanford

After limiting USC to just three points last week, the Trojans lowest score since 1997, Stanford should have no trouble shutting down Cal-Davis. While the matchup looks like a mismatch on paper, the Aggies feature Keelan Doss, one of the most productive wide receivers in all of college football.

Against a tough FBS defense, Doss has a great opportunity to enhance his 2019 NFL Draft stock.

Last season, Doss was dominant, finishing the 2017 season with 115 receptions for 1,499 yards and seven touchdowns in just 11 games. It’s not just FCS competition Doss is racking up statistics against either.

Against San Diego State last season, he caught eight passes for 181 yards and a score. He also caught 11 passes in an upset win over San Jose State in this year’s season opener.

The key for Stanford won’t be preventing Doss from catching the ball. It will be to limit his yards after the catch. He does a very good job of catching the ball with his hands rather than allowing it into his chest. Once in possession of the ball, Doss is extremely difficult to tackle.

At 6-foot-3, 209 pounds, he uses his size and strength to his advantage by shedding tacklers and running over defenders.

Stanford won’t make it easy for him, but Doss should clinch an invitation to the Scouting Combine, and potentially a spot in the 2019 NFL Draft, with a solid outing.
