2006 – Grade:  A

This was easily the best class Chicago has ever produced when they didn’t have a 1st round pick. One could say it was this group that put the team over the top in their pursuit to reach the Super Bowl that same year. It began with grabbing safety Danieal Manning who would become a capable starting safety and solid part-timer return man.

There was also defensive end Mark Anderson who had 12 sacks as a rookie that year. However, the prized jewel of that group was an undersized kid from Miami by the name of Devin Hester. He took the NFL by storm, scoring five kick and punt return touchdowns that year. He would retire as the all-time leader in return TDs and a strong possibility to reach the Hall of Fame. Not bad.
