1978 – Grade:  F

This was probably one of the worst drafts in team history. A big shock considering it was run by former Bears GM Jim Finks, considered the best they’ve had yet in the Super Bowl era. Without 1st and 2nd round choices, and having made the playoffs the year before, it seems he was caught in no man’s land without high picks or high positioning.

As a result, the entire class was a joke. They had one pick in the 3rd round and the rest were in the 6th round or later. None of the players acquired started a single season in Chicago and none even became a halfway decent backup. One might have called it a throwaway draft because that’s certainly what it felt like.
