Florida falls to the Wildcats

It did not happen since 1986.

Kentucky went 32 years since the last time they defeated the Florida Gators. As a matter of fact, the last time the Wildcats defeated the Gators in Gainesville, it was 1979. A very lengthy streak fell at the hands of the Wildcats as they shocked a capacity crowd in Ben Hill Griffin Stadium.

The Gators defense was torched on the ground by the Wildcats offense as they allowed 303 rushing yards. Kentucky’s Bennie Snell Jr. led the way with 175 of those yards while quarterback Terry Wilson added another 105. The win by Kentucky snapped the fourth-longest losing streak in college football at 31 games and it also was the first SEC opener loss since 2004 for the Florida Gators.

Remember, this is year one for the Gators under head coach Dan Mullen but the former Florida assistant has some work to do with a roster that has talent but may not be on the same level of talent that was seen in Gainesville in recent seasons.
