A new era of New York Jets football kicks off against the Detriot Lions

New York Jets rookie quarterback Sam Darnold will make his NFL debut on Monday Night Football against Matthew Stafford and the Detroit Lions.

Selected third overall in the 2018 NFL Draft out of USC, Darnold was the second quarterback to go off the board and will be the third rookie quarterback to debut in week one, following Lamar Jackson and Josh Allen. Both debuted in the atrocious Ravens/Bills game on Sunday afternoon.

Detroit is also beginning a new era with head coach Matt Patricia making his regular season head coaching debut for Detroit after six years as the Patriots defensive coordinator.

Here’s how to watch Monday Night Football in Detroit on TV or through an online stream.

TV: ESPN
Time: 7:10 p.m. Eastern Standard Time
Announcers: Beth Mowins, Brian Griese, Laura Rutledge
Online streaming: WatchESPN, Fubo TV

While the Jets made a couple flashy moves this offseason, Detroit made several low-key additions that could pay off with a playoff appearance. LeGarrette Blount, Sylvester Williams, Luke Wilson, Ricky Jean-Francois, and Deshawn Shead each signed one year deals in free agency.

Linebackers Devon Kennard and Christian Jones were also added to beef up the linebacker room, and the team retained defensive backs Nevin Lawson and Tavon Wilson.

New York moved up in the NFL Draft by trading three second-round picks with the Colts to get their franchise quarterback. In free agency, they signed Trumaine Johnson, Spencer Long, Avery Williamson, and Isaiah Crowell to lucrative multi-year deals.

With both teams making several additions in free agency and the NFL Draft, what are the odds looking like going into their week one matchup?
