USC Players to Watch

JT Daniels, QB: Daniels is the new kid on the block for USC after the talented passer re-classified to the 2018 recruiting class earlier this year. The reclassification instantly made him the best quarterback on the USC roster and it was not long until Daniels was anointed as the starter. His first action came in last week’s 43-21 win over UNLV in which he passed for 282 yards and a touchdown. It was a very passable test for the former Mater Dei phenom but now he has a Stanford defense in front of him that was 12th last season in total interceptions.

Amon-Ra St. Brown, WR: Another true freshman that will prove to be a prominent player for the Trojans as the season continues, St. Brown led the Trojans in catches and yards last week as well as hauling in the only passing touchdown for USC. The 6’1 target is a reliable pass catcher and someone Daniels can truly depend on. How? The two were teammates last season at Mater Dei and connected on 64 receptions for 18 touchdowns. Chemistry is probably not an issue for the two.

Cameron Smith, LB: The leader of the USC defense, Smith has led the Trojans in tackles in each of the last two seasons and was second on the team in tackles as a true freshman back in 2015. He surprised a few by coming back for his senior season as he could have been playing on Sundays now in the NFL as a likely early round draft pick. His return was important for the USC defense and it is tough to envision this unit have a great deal of success without him.
