Andrew Wingard (SS – Wyoming) vs. Missouri

While Josh Allen dominated the headlines at Wyoming last season, safety Andrew Wingard was quietly continuing what is one of the better careers in program history. The senior has recorded at least 114 tackles in each of his first three seasons and is 93 tackles away from breaking the school’s all-time record.

Wingard is at his best against top competition. Against power-five opponents Iowa and Oregon last season, Wingard combined to make 22 stops. He’ll look to make a similar impact against Missouri, the last power five team he’ll face in his college career. Tigers quarterback Drew Lock is considered one of the top 2019 NFL Draft prospects at the position, however accuracy is an issue and he’ll make a few ill-advised decisions every week. It will be up to Wingard to capitalize on those mistakes and improve his draft stock heading into Mountain West play.

Wingard is one of those players who will rarely be mentioned in draft conversation as he isn’t the biggest or most athletic prospect and he plays at a smaller school. When the process picks up steam, however, expect to hear more and more about this potential mid-round pick in the 2019 NFL Draft.
