Houston Players To Watch

Ed Oliver – Defensive Tackle

We mentioned him earlier but he will be sprinkled throughout this article which will mirror his effect on this matchup. Oliver is going to be the best player on the field in the majority of Houston’s games this year. This one may not be any different. Oliver is 6’3 and 292 pounds but does not move like it. His quickness and strength combination makes him an absolute terror for offensive lines. Arizona’s three interior linemen are all sophomores and could really struggle with Oliver.

D’Eriq King – Quarterback

King led the way for his team to pull away from Rice in the second half. His numbers were impressive, especially his 70% completion percentage. He was a threat on the ground too with 33 yards and a touchdown. He accounted for over 350 total yards and four touchdowns. Arizona’s defense may put up more of a fight than Rice so King needs to make sure he is prepared. If King can put up similar numbers against Zona, then Houston could pull off the ‘W’.

Roman Brown – Linebacker

The senior was the second leading tackler behind Oliver with 11 total tackles. He was constantly around the ball. With Arizona’s running game needed a boost this week, Brown will be entrusted with keeping them from getting it started. The thumper loves to hit and pairs well with Oliver to lead the defense.
