Which college football stars need to improve this week as the 2019 NFL Draft draws closer?

Kickoff weekend is in the books and it’s time to turn the attention to week two of the college football season and another week closer to the NFL Draft.

Corporate sponsorships and the allure of playing in NFL stadiums has turned week one into a five-day spectacle, however, it’s also taken away from the rest of the non-conference schedule.

Rather than starting with a cupcake and building a tougher schedule for the first few weeks of the season, many schools are scheduling one competitive matchup to open the season and hoping that’s enough to impress the playoff committee.

As a result, week two features just two games between ranked opponents and both of those contests (Georgia at South Carolina and USC at Stanford) are interconference matchups. On the other end of the spectrum, 29 FBS programs will take on schools at the FCS level this weekend.

While this takes some of the drama out of these matchups, it does give small-school prospects an opportunity to shine against top competition.

One of those 2019 NFL Draft prospects will be highlighted later.

There are still plenty of individual battles taking place this weekend that scouts will be watching closely. Whether it’s a top-tier prospect fighting to be the first overall pick, or a late-round candidate trying to cement his place in the draft, week two sets up to be a very important week when it comes to the 2019 NFL Draft.

Here’s a look at some of the players worth keeping an eye on.
