Chicago Bears at Green Bay Packers: Week 1 Game Preview
By Erik Lambert
Prediction:
People would be mistaking this Bears team for the one that exited last season 5-11. It’s not only deeper and more talented than before, it’s also run by a more modern coaching staff, especially on offense. Green Bay still has Aaron Rodgers and his arsenal of weapons remains solid, even without Jordy Nelson. Mike McCarthy is a quality play caller who will have his team ready. This game will not be a blowout. It will be closer than in recent years.
Bears win 23-21
Smart money always says to go with the better quarterback. Rodgers is superior to Trubisky. At the same time, it feels like the Bears are superior (on paper) almost everywhere else. The defense is equipped to give Rodgers enough of a headache to keep his numbers mortal for the evening while all Trubisky has to do is get a couple scoring drives and not throw the game away.
