Chicago Bears at Green Bay Packers: Week 1 Game Preview
By Erik Lambert
Recent history:
Green Bay is 8-2 in the last 10 meeting between the two teams. It’s been domination for the most part. Chicago hasn’t beaten them since 2015. The last two times they went up to Lambeau Field, the Packers pasted them 26-6 and 35-14. Both were Thursday Night affairs. So the Bears will see if switching to Sunday Night might change their luck. The Packers seems confident, as well they should be, but there’s a definite sense of urgency from Chicago players and coaches.
Player of the Game pick: Trey Burton
His name was mentioned earlier for a reason. The Bears offense wants to use the tight end. Burton is not only big but athletic and shows a keen sense of how to get himself open. With Green Bay so focused on stopping the speeding receivers on the outside and Jordan Howard at the line of scrimmage, it could open up some giant gaps in the middle of the field. That is right where Burton will be most of the game. Expect seven catches for 86 yards and a touchdown.
