With week one of the college football season in the books, let’s pinpoint some key takeaways from this week’s action.

The slate to open the 2018 college football season was presented with a few marquee match-ups. Some included the defending national champions in Orlando against an ACC opponent, two week-established programs meeting in one of the more historic venues in college football, and two top-10 teams colliding in Atlanta with possible College Football Playoff implications on the line.

All of us were looking forward to the season getting underway after an offseason that produced scandals, numerous transfers, and of course, a plethora of coaching changes.

On the field however, week one is consistently a hub for near upsets, actual upsets, and the common whirlwind that is the reality of college football being back before our eyes.

Week one is now behind us. So let’s dissect some of the key takeaways from the opening weekend of the 2018 season.
