Notre Dame Keys To Victory

Take advantage of scoring opportunities: The Irish are playing a lethal defense this weekend (if somehow you did not hear that for some reason) and scoring may definitely be a premium. So if any opportunity arises for the Irish offense to put points on the scoreboard, it would be imperative that scoring is the result. Last season, Notre Dame was 14th in the country in red-zone scoring at 91.3% with 42 scores out of 46 attempts. Any points are good points against a great Michigan defensive unit.

Force 3 or more turnovers: Whenever the Irish defense forced three turnovers last season, Notre Dame was 4-0 with each win coming by 20 or more points. Expecting the Notre Dame defense to be on the same plateau as Michigan is unreasonable but the Irish return their interception leader from last season in corner Julian Love as well as ‘Buck’ linebacker Drue Tranquill, who led the team in fumble recoveries in 2017. This aspect is arguably the most important factor for the Irish in a game like this.
