IN: Doran Grant (CB)
The best performing defender of the preseason in Chicago was cornerback Doran Grant. Quarterbacks have had a hard time attacking him all month. He has two interceptions and five passes defended to prove it. Production is there as is the physicality teams look for in a tackler. Not bad considering he’s only 5’10. If the Bears were serious about players earning their way onto the roster, then it’s impossible to keep Grant off.
OUT: Kasim Edebali (EDGE)
Pass rush is of vital importance for the Bears to figure out. Kasim Edebali, their free agent pickup, was having a decent preseason, applying pressure on a number of occasions. However, he did suffer from inconsistency and then had the hard luck to suffer a foot injury in the finale that resulted in him being carted off. The fact is Edebali was and remains a backup at best. Chicago has to find something better than that if they can.
