2011, 8th overall. . Jake Locker. . team. 35.

Tennessee started three different quarterbacks in 2010: rookie Rusty Smith, college superstar Vince Young, and 38-year-old Kerry Collins. With Young failing to hold onto the starting job Tennessee took another swing at a quarterback in the first round with Jake Locker out of Washington, a senior who probably stayed a season longer than needed.

Four quarterbacks were taken in the first round of the 2011 NFL Draft, starting with Cam Newton number one overall and finishing with Locker, Christian Ponder, and Blaine Gabbert. Andy Dalton, Colin Kaepernick, and Tyrod Taylor would be taken later, and each proved to be better than the three late first round quarterbacks.

Locker sat for most of his rookie season, appearing in five games as a backup and attempting only 66 passes for Tennessee. He threw four touchdowns and no interceptions, but had a 51.5% completion rate.

After competing for the starting job in 2012 Locker started 11 games, going 4-7 with 10 touchdowns and 11 interceptions. He tore his non-throwing shoulder in September, but returned as started over Matt Hasselbeck.

A hip injury paired with a broken foot in 2013 limited Locker to just seven games, and the following season he was benched in favor of rookie Zach Mettenberger.

Locker would retire after the season, finishing his NFL career with 30 games in four seasons.
