Brandon Snyder (FS – South Dakota State) vs. Iowa State

Brandon Snyder is one of the most intriguing 2019 NFL Draft prospects in the FCS. The opener against Iowa State will be very meaningful for the senior, both from a draft stock standpoint and personally.

More from NFL Mocks

Snyder is a graduate transfer from Iowa. His best season for the Hawkeyes came in 2016 when he recorded 85 tackles and three interceptions. Since his junior campaign, it’s been a long road to his new home at South Dakota State.

On April 6 of last year, Snyder tore the ACL in his left knee, but he beat all expectations and returned to the field October 7th against Illinois. Not only did he see the field, but Snyder intercepted a pass and returned it for a touchdown.

The fairy tale return was short lived however as Snyder re-tore his ACL in that game and would miss the remainder of the 2017 season. To make matters worse, he would be arrested and plead guilty to operating a motor vehicle while intoxicated following the season. On July 31st, Snyder announced he would leave Iowa and transfer to South Dakota State.

Just 32 days after announcing his transfer, Snyder will suit up for the Jackrabbits against his old in-state rival. This matchup against Iowa State won’t be for the Cy-Hawk Trophy, but for Snyder, it’s just as important. The game represents the last time he’ll face an FBS opponent as he marks his return from a disastrous past 17 months.

A likely day three pick in the 2019 NFL Draft, Snyder will look to lead his new school to an early season upset over one of last season’s biggest surprises.
