The Worst Cuts All 32 NFL Teams Have Ever Made
By Erik Lambert
Buffalo Bills
There were many low points for the Buffalo Bills in the early-to-mid 1980s, but one of the most overlooked was the fact they drafted and cut what would turn out to be one of the best kickers in NFL history before they even gave him a chance to actually play. Gary Anderson didn’t win the kicking competition as a rookie in 1982, so he was forced to depart.
Pittsburgh tried him out and he swiftly made their roster. He’d make three Pro Bowls during his time there. After departing at age 36, he signed with Minnesota and continued his dominance, making a fourth Pro Bowl in 1998. By the time he retired just shy of his 46th birthday, Anderson had made a staggering 570 field goals.
