Tennessee Titans

Steve Tasker . 31. player. 35. . WR. Northwestern

Back when they were still the Houston Oilers, the franchise was mired in all sorts of problems in the mid-1980s. They didn’t yet have the foresight to see players beyond what their positions said they should be. The team thought they were taking a flier on a young receiver in the 9th round in Steve Tasker. He lasted a year and a half before being waived midway through the 1986 season.

It wasn’t until later that the Oilers found out they may have given up arguably the greatest special teams player in NFL history. Tasker was a legend of the third phase, so good that Bill Parcells once told the Buffalo Bills coaches that he actually game planned to play against him. Tasker went to seven Pro Bowls as a special teams ace, helping his team to reach four straight Super Bowls.

His sweet vengeance came in grand fashion when the Bills stunned Houston in the 1992 wild card playoffs with a 32-point come-from-behind victory. Still the largest in NFL history.
