New Orleans Saints

15. . QB. West Virginia. Marc Bulger . 22. player

Most people these days remember Marc Bulger as the man who replaced Kurt Warner in St. Louis, taking over the Greatest Show on Turf offense. None remember that it wasn’t the Rams who actually drafted him. That honor went to the New Orleans Saints. They scooped him up in the 6th round of the 2000 draft, just a few picks ahead of Tom Brady. Amazingly he didn’t even make it to the final cuts before getting waived.

After bouncing over to Atlanta for a brief moment, the Rams picked him up. In 2002, injuries forced him into the starting lineup and he went 6-0 in games he started and finished. That’s how he ended up becoming the starter. From there he would lead the team to two playoff appearances and reach two Pro Bowls.

The Saints had just traded for Aaron Brooks the same year Bulger was drafted. So it was bad timing more than anything that led them to the unfortunate oversight.
