Atlanta Falcons

player. 44. . P. Long Beach State. Mike Horan . 2

The Atlanta Falcons deserve some credit. Historically the organization has been good about keeping quality talent in-house. Yet no team is immune to making a mistake.  Mike Horan would prove to be one of their rare blunders. Granted, cutting a punter out of a time college like Long Beach State doesn’t sound like a disaster waiting to happen.

Still, their special teams coach badly missed the mark with him. After Atlanta cut him as a rookie, he spent a couple years starting in Philadelphia before heading to Denver. There he would become an established starter, making All-Pro in 1988. Horan would stay in the NFL until the age of 40, where he ended his productive career helping the Rams win the Super Bowl in 1999.
