The Jacksonville Jaguars have a long history of not being able to recognize good safeties. Their most egregious blunder was trading away Reggie Nelson to Cincinnati, but perhaps the most overlooked is how they allowed Marlon McCree to walk in 2003. What makes it incredible to think about is the young safety had six interceptions the year before.

It’s unknown why he was released after just two games the next season, but the Houston Texans scooped him up and he quickly made an impact for them. In 2005, he landed with the Carolina Panthers and helped them reach the NFC championship game. Again he was released, again he landed with a new team (the Chargers) and again he was productive. They made the playoffs both years he was their starting safety.

Sadly he’s best known for a catastrophic mistake he made in against New England in the 2006 playoffs, intercepting a Tom Brady pass that would’ve won his team the game only to be stripped seconds later by Troy Brown, allowing the Patriots to come back and win.
